Danny Sine was the former director and owner of Yoga Key (formerly Bikram Yoga Key West, established 1985). Under Danny’s leadership, the school was revitalized and transformed into a culture of learning, as Danny hosted and brought, for the first time to Key West, a wide range of visiting Bikram method teachers and yoga champions who espoused a like-minded vision of dispensing our lineage of yoga as therapy and teaching to heal.

Danny was a beloved friend, fiancée, kindred spirit, Captain, American rebel, comrade, partner in life and service and inspiring yoga teacher who instructed with integrity, humor, practicality, passion, connection and wit. Sean Connery impressions, red Crocs and fresh fruit made his classes a real treat.

Danny’s love for Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty was exceeded only by his consideration for his students and teachers. He was deeply loved, known for his bright blue eyes, compassion, honesty and fervent belief in the power of yoga to transform and heal. Danny made every effort to improve the health and well being of his friends, family and people around him until his passing in December 2018.

Danny fought clinical, chemical depression for the majority of his adult life.  This illness told him he could never succeed, regardless of the tremendous bounty and beauty in the world.

He saw the beauty but in the end was unable to absorb it.

To honor his legacy and commitment to helping those in recovery, Yoga Key established the Danny J. Sine Memorial Scholarship Fund. Contributions to this fund go directly to providing Samuel’s House families affordable access and the space to heal and practice yoga.

Your donation to this important cause ensures that those in recovery from depression and alcoholism have the chance to actualize what Danny could not for himself: to absorb, and feel, the beauty of this present world.

In gratitude for your generosity and kindness.
